Lowering a 182

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,

Thinking of lowering my 182 with cup pack a little. Dont wana slam it, just make the wheels fill the arches a bit more. Would be interested in hearing anyones opinion on it

Cheers, Shaun

Dont know that it actually is any lower. Im lead to beleive by my dealer theyre not, Renault left the ride height the same and put on the Exalto 2 tyres instead. Someone on hear must know for sure!!??

there is definitely a difference, just cant remember exactly what it is, the difference between the 182 and 182 cup option is 3mm.

Dave,

Thats what my dealer said at the time i ordered it. Then they said Renault had changed their minds and just up rated the tyres instead. Am i wrong?

no, they did change something at the last minute (think they kept the offset the same) but it wasnt the ride height, it is lower

from renaultsport.co.uk

New 16" Renaultsport alloy wheels follow the design from the Mégane Renaultsport 225 and are fitted with wider 205/45 Michelin Exalto 2 tyres.
• The front and rear spoilers from the Cup are now available as an option.
• A Cup chassis option is introduced offering a wider track front and rear, a stiffer sidewall on the tyres, a lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers and new steering geometry. With this option the wheels are finished in an anthracite colour.

Nice one Dave, but how up to date is that? I think youre right about the wider track, but maybe it was that that Renault abandoned in favour of the Exalto 2s?

The 182 (all of them) have a different wishbones and wider track. I dont think the Cups have anyhting very different migh be different spacers on the Cup tyresbut its not going to be massive.

The 182 Cups are 3mm lower than 182

The 172 Cups are 3mm lower than 172

172 are supposidly 20mm lower than normal Clios

And the 182 are I belive 20mm lower than 172 but Im not very sure on that all the diagrams I have hear show then to be the same. It might mean they are 20mm lower than standrard Clios.

the "cups" were due to have a wider track due to wheels with another offset. this was scrapped.

I have lowered my 182 by 40mm on Apex Springs

Massive difference, handling is excellent and no torque steer

the car just feels right and the ride is no different probably better

I parked my car next to a standard 182 and a 182 with cup pack.

You could see a difference between the 182 and cup pack 182 when they are next to each other, my 172 was the lowest but it isnt standard, Id say that a standard 172 is more or less the same as a standard 182.

The cup pack 182 handles like my 172 on pro springs.
