Anyone give me a brief rundown of whats needed. Or list the process in some easy steps?

I'm not a complete idiot so no need to write an essay!

Many many thanks.

Pretty good guide on williamsclio. On the Banana iirc!

c**t of a job...(Piss easy) but there usually seized solid!

Doing my GTi on Saturday have been soaking the f**kers in WD 40 for weeks !

Next time use some proper penetrating oil Baron, WD40 is just a water dispursant not to mention s**t, about as much use as a choccy firegaurd for freeing off stuff.

it straight forward aslong as u get the measurements correct an exact same on both sides, use lots of WD40 like said above and maybe some heat when the time comes

a slide hammer is a good tool to have in handy but if not a large socket fitted over the end of the bar and screw a plate against it with an M8 bolt, it will pull the bar out. Just like that guide infact lol

  Works...kind of...
I used a 32mm socket and a high tensile M12 bolt and nut.

You don't adjust the spline. You remove the spline, adjust the arm and put the spline back in.

oh aye they are well easy.......

.....unless its seized (which they usually are)

btw if you use the nut and bolt method, make sure you have a few handy, i knackered 4 nuts and 2 bolts trying to get the drivers side out, passenger came out no probs though

Do you not have to adjust the splind or somit iirc ?

it bugs me when people say that you have to twist it this much splines and that much splines etc! it confuses the sh*t out people

all your doing is rotating the the axle, you mark it up with a dot and then mark the end of the torsion bar with tippex or sumin it will show you how much splines you have rotated it round if you know what i mean. 2 splines is 25mm or something.

I prefer just measuring the height of the axle to the bottom of the car. atleast you know how much you have lowered it by then

A good soaking in penetrating fluid and lots of shock treatment with a large hammer

I also tend to get a friend to hit it with hammer whilst im winding it out with the puller

We did my mates torsion bar today, never done any lowering of a car before we are complete beginners and took us around 30 mins!

The torsion bar came out with ease, it looked very new tbh and the car has gone down quite abit too lol.

Passenger side came out easily with a slide hammer.

Needed the later method on the drivers side !
