Brown.

i just lowered mine on 40mm apex springs....goto Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts

search for your car then find springs there like 90pound postage inc and you get em next day if you but befor 2pm....pretty easy to fit if ya have some mechanical experiance..if not get em done at a garage

highly reccomended

hi mate ar you lowering your car or gettin new springs then lowering them arnt the clio once adjustable im not to sure on clio im new so im still gettin use to them.lol

sorry me mate told me that the clio springs u cannot lower them you need new one's but all springs ar adjustable im a trainee machanic and i no thought is he goin mad

Right, the springs are always fixed height. no matter what. You cannot get adjustable springs, you can get adjustable spring plates(coil overs), which move the spring up and down thus lowering/raising it. The APEX springs are harder, and are lower, so dont have much travel in them.

You mate is, correct, but its every car not just clios.(onless you start going into leaf spring setups etc)

  M2 Competition
Just a set of apex springs if you want to lower it (approx 90quid plus fitting) but this will give a hard ride.

A good set of coilovers, which will mean that the springs and the dampers are changed, will set you back at least 600quid, but shouldnt be as harsh a ride, and will handle better.

Id just get the springs, get them fitted, and see how you like it. Can always sell em easily if you dont and swap it back.

Andy I have Apex on mine you can drive it tomorrow if you like (Runcorn) to get a feel for it, I will be selling mine as soon as I find some coilovers so if you want to hang on you can buy them if you like them ?? :)

Sentences start with a capital letter, never start a new sentence with "and" and a full stop should be used to complete the sentence. Not that i am being anal :S

Anyway back on topic,

I had some eibach prolines on my 172 and couldnt fault them however if its the lowered look you want a wouldnt recommend as only drops about 10mm

Yep its been said lots on times on here Andy if you do a search, Apex for looks, Eibach for handling :)

I am looking at a c.40mm drop at lowish cost, but I dont want the handling to be worse than standard. Do the Apex springs f**k up the handling, or are they just not AS good as the Eibachs?

  Turbos.
The shorter the spring, the less travel, and consequently the dampers can't do their job.

The Eibach has a progressive spring rate, so it is softer and hardens up depending on compression. That is a compromise for track driving, where you should have a linear spring (Apex) which has the same rate regardless. The Apex probably has the same spring rate as the Eibach does at 3/4 compression, and hence the poor ride (together with compromised damping).

I don't have any rubbage

Do you want some ;)

Only kidding, cheers for the help. I'm on the brink of odering the Apex 40mm. I dont have a clue who I would get to fit them for me though.

Pmsl @ Roy, motorworld ?? got mine for £81 fromt here .. :)

Motorsport world? Yeah I have a set in my basket there right now. But surely they don't fit them? Did you post your car off to them? ;)

Roy, I've got Sportlines on my 182 Cup, only drops the car 20mm and to be honest it's probably not even that - but they are great springs, so much better than the Cup springs.
Buy 'em mate!

I'm not gonna lower unless it's at least 40mm, and I don't really fancy spunking £800+ on coilovers, so surely Apex is my only sensible choice short term? If I like the drop but the ride is too harsh then I an always add H+Rs at a later date?

All opinions welcome though obviously. You guys have experiences so I cant argue with them

Which of the sportlines/ prolines offers the biggest drop?
And what are the drops?
Sportlines offer the greater drop around 25mm on a car with cup packs, 35mm without

Prolines around 10mm with cup packs, maybe 20mm without.

I've heard good things about the prolines, but wanted more of a drop without compromising handling so went for the sportlines and they haven't disappointed me.

  Turbos.
I'm not sure if i'm getting old but the more i drive the 172 the harsher i find the ride. Maybe if the dampers are knackered but has anyone driven an Apex AND Eibach'd car and noticed a massive difference or not?

  ARCTIC BLUE 182
decided too go for apex springs too drop it 40mm, got from motorworld as advised from marie, just waiting on delivery

For the money Apex are fine for looks imho, handling improvement comes from coilovers for sure but thats the difference between spending £80 on Apex or £750 on H&R .. ;) Roy .. just give em a go ??? nothing lost if you don't like them imho as it is each to their own :)

  ARCTIC BLUE 182
iam only buying the apex springs for looks, aware they made the ride even stiffer, but what the hell only 80.00

^^ I find them a lil bit bouncy tbh on the road which is ok but on track it meand the car has to work a lot harder but like you say for £80 :)
