lowering t bar

using weights guide, iv made the tool up, but im having probs

already posted but

greased the bar up etc, sprayed it but when iv secrewedf the nut in to the bar and tightend the bolt up to the socket, i then go clockwise and tighten the bolt even further into the socket? is this right? as on his guide it says unwind the bolt?

but it just gets to tight and still doesnt removed the bars



i dont know if im doing some thing wrong

or the bars are well seized

see in the pic mate, do i tighten the nut clock wise thats uptight against the socket?

i gets tighter and then 2 tight, the nut also shapes its self to the delv in he socket a little

im tried to it was so tight my dad couldnt even move it, on side make a noise as it it was coming ;) but then nothing!

me thinks seized! its had lots of plus gas, lots of wd for about 6 weeks now

iv made i think washer, from a piece of steel 2nite, thats my next step 2moro before i give up

i could slide hammer it but dont want to kill the threads

yeh, well the cars never been lowerd, its a 1996 model

and has 100k on it of never been touched

iv sprayed them all over in the middle bit from be hind and the front!

did yours just come out

while im on! do you know where i can buy a 21mm swan neck spanner for the front struts, no where has 1, tried all over halfords local diy store, snap on stopped it 2or am i best asking a garge to windy gun it, as i dont drive the car its in a lock up

hehe i got a little trick for this too!

21mm socket over the strut top nut then get a big set of mole grips, very very very tightly put them on the top of the socket. then place allen key through the socket and into the top of the shock absorber bar, and twist one against the other!!

simple eh?

yeh, iv got every thing ready, iv got new masvt7s to go on as soon as shes slammed, there not to your sl*g style but still all it needs then is the fresh paint job

iv got my srping clamps its not that hard to rebuild the struts up is it?, once iv got the tops from the stds to go with my apex kit
 


once youve took the top nuts off and removed the struts, everything else is plain sailing! just be careful when removing/fitting springs whilst under tension!

you having new top nut bearings etc at same time??
 


youll soon see em when u start to take the springs off!

check there condition and make a note! ease of movement, but no scraping and no play

can always come back to em another day if they need replacing.

weight you cursed me!

i could cry, i feel like scraping my 16v the shed

i get the spanner all goes on puts the allen bit in, but its so bloody tight that i just cant get it, so i goes and gets a big steel pole, use that but still 2tight, lets this fella over the road have a go and no still wont budge

so i got annyoed and decided to f**k around at the rear, final got 1 tortion bar unsiezed the pass side,

the drivers side wont budge, iv used 5bolts now and its stripping the threads before i pulls them, im gonna get a big f**k off slide hammer and attack it

i need this doing so i can get on with my body work and sent it off 2get painted :(



as i know its going to need arch work hehehehe

iv got 1 bar out, 2moro its slide hammer time :D

that should get it moving!

and im going to take the car round the corner to get the bolt windy gunned off!, id let a garage do the job but

a)no 1 likes 16vs! lol

b)im not insured and the cars in a lock up

im not being greedy :p

iv done it it took about 3hrs to get the f**ker out, lots off coffee lots of shouting but she came, as i was about to give up

lowerd it 12.5cms from std

only thing is its very very low at present, on 17s all tyre is coverd, but it seems to have stopped or hit a stop sum where alo9ng the line?

cant see any bump stops but i wanted about another inch?

how do i remove what evers in the way!

im mad on lowering i tell theeeee

daf dunno son, hopefully soon ish, all it needs is the front decking now, happening 2moro and a tiny bit more body work

then it can get painted :p

but im not rushing! hehe

how much is yours all costing for the repairing?!
 


woohoo! glad u sorted, 12.5cm sounds one hell of a lot! u need to road test it carefully, because if u hit that stop mid corner you could be in poo!

this will make u sick, lol wasnt to happy with mine and wanted to lift the back up 35mm to get the nose down poise back

Well it took me 40 mins from jacking it up to dropping it back down! lol!

i recon i could do it in 40mins now every thing is free!

if i hit what stop mate?!!

right iv lowerd it 12.5cms but its like sort stopped i want it lower but theres like no travel if u sit in the boot it wont budge, as if its on the bump stops but where are they? can u remove them? does it have them, i can see them on my saxo but not my clio
