Bought mine in May with 16k on the clock on a 52 plate.

Now done almost 21k.

yeah, its really nice, now, only problem is its got lots of trolley dents and chips on the bonnet, and the shocks need changing, so it needs lodsa money soon, plus the cambelt !!! Renault recon the engine is just breaking in now, and it is at half its life

Bloody hell only 21K, my 52 172's done just under 60K.

The guy I bought it off worked in the city so caught the train.

He also had a sports bike so the CUP spent most of the time in the garage.

I cover about 12 k a year which should keep the milage low.

i tell you what though, my engine looks cleaner on the outside than some of the engines i have seen, i think the usage keeps the engine greasy and clean. some of them 182 engine are water corroded and crappy

Is the sticky clutch a common problem? Mine drives me mad sometimes, and ive stalled it a couple of times?

Whats the cure/ problem with it mate? New cable?

Other thread seem to confirm that its the cable that causes the problem.

I will let you know when I get the car back tomorrow.

I had Mike @ Rentech change my clutch cable and it's much better then it was, put it still feels rough some days. I've heard the clutch rachet may also need cause the creaking.

when i had my 3rd clutch, i got them to change the cable and its a totally different cable to the original one, got some big weights on the end of it. and its alot lot lot lot lot lighter, i though they had stuck a 1.2 engine it, as the clutch was so light when i got it back

I know the guys at local dealership and theres a guy in the leeds area who has a 172 cup that the last time i heard (about this april as he takes it there for servicing) had only 4k miles from new, he only uses it between march-october, on dry weekends and dry evenings

you probably spent over 10k on petrol.:S

But a car like this is supposed to be driven ;)

Some impressively low figures there though. My 2yr 5mth old 172 has just passed 24k, about average. But the other car in the household (my wife's) has just passed 91k and it's a 51 plate (5.5 year old?) Astra 1.6.

Still remember the engine in my parents Rover 418 turbo diesel (first car I drove) was just getting broken in at 45k miles. Right before I wrote it off...
