Couldn't stay away from RS ownership forever!

After selling up my 182 a few years back and having a rather boring A3 tdi which then got rear ended and written off. Replaced that with a Zetec s which although was a nice car, just wasn't doing it for me.
I had initially been looking to replace that with a civic type R but couldn't find a decent one within budget.

Sunday night I was browsing through auto trader and found an advert that caught my eye. Very well written, and everything sounded good. As I couldn't do anything about viewing until the wednesday I didn't make contact until the tuesday. Made arrangements to view the car and also discussed part ex'ing the fiesta, sent him over details of my car so he could do some prep work on part ex valuing.

The car is a 57 on 53k and the plate came with the car. 1 owner after 3 months with renault as a demo.
The list of recent work in the ad that caught my eye were as follows:

Full service
Cambelt and water pump
Brake fluid change
New pads all round
New drilled discs
New engine mount
New front coils
4 new tyres

Cost the seller 2.2k!

Car was absolutely as described with the only fault being a stone chipped front end. Went for a drive and it drove perfect. Was very impressed with the ride quality and the lack of squeaks and rattles - much improved from the 182.

Shook hands on a deal and paid my deposit. Went back last night after work and collect the car.
Took it steady on the way home as the weather was shite and I've been away from this kind of power for a while and also my first turbo experience. Journey home was a few a roads and then m4 & m25. Cruised perfectly along the motorways with ease.

Anyways, that enough waffling for now. Only got a few pics from the ad as I've been working since I picked it up. Will hopefully give it a clean and photos on wed.

No real plans. Think I'm going keep it pretty standard. Only thoughts are changing the head unit purely so I can hook up my iPhone to it. Also possible a change of exhaust just to get a bit of a gruntier noise out the back but nothing anywhere near as loud as the yozza on my old 182.

Looking good mate, a rear R. Spoiler makes the rear look 100% better.

It's a garden centre along staines road.

Gave the interior a once over with some spritz and dressle today.

Don't think the exhaust has ever been cleaned. Had a go at it with some autosole earlier too.

Bit of copy and paste here:

Today marks 1 week of owning the car after being away from renault sports for about 4 years or so - previously had a 182.

Quick history - car is a 1 owner with 53,000 miles. Before sold to me it had the cambelt and water pump changed, full service, new discs, pads and fluid, engine mount and front coil replaced along with 4 new tyres.

Overall the car is in pretty good nick bar the front bumper which ideally needs a respray as its heavily chipped.

I had no really plans to change the car other than tidy a few bits up.

Firstly I started with the exhaust as I don't think they had ever been cleaned.

Much better!

So this weekend I set up sorting a few things. First of all was a good wash.

Finished it of with a cost of AF tough coat. Rained Saturday night and it beaded nicely.

So that's the exterior done for now, now onto the bits I wanted to tidy up inside.

Firstly I took delivery of these

Next up dismantling the dash...

Plan was to match the wing mirrors to tidy and match it all up.

Renault were useless at helping me with the paint so I opted to try and match it best I could.

Ended up using fords nimbus grey. Not a perfect match but a big improvement.

Whilst painting I didn't really want to take the leather off the hear surround. I had many failed attempts to mask it off. A sudden brain wave and I found the perfect solution.

It's got even worse. Christ knows how it's attracting so much dirt.

Very nice! I've just bought a black R26 :D

Was it easy enough to remove the centre console panel?
