Hello, Hope everyone had a good weekend, fireworks and all that.
I picked up my trophy last weekend and put up the miles per gallon on the display, i then filled up the tank after forgetting to ask 4 a full tank in the deal(der). The mpg reading seems to just rise slowly since i filled the tank up.
Stating with 9 miles on the clock at about 12 mpg, now done 180 miles and 28mpg is this right or should it start from 0 mpg when you get in the car each morning or is it measuring the mpg for the whole tank of petrol as an average?

it works out a rolling average, so will likely vary a bit until you have a few miles under the belt. Pretty sure it describes the averaging method in the handbook.

It works on an average, this means that you need around 300miles before it starts to read accurately.

300 miles? I think this figure is completely arbitrary (made-up!). It adjusts the average every 400 m so the distance you need to drive to get a stable average depends on the type of driving you do - but from my experience is more like 50-60 miles.

The trip computer is also a little optimistic too. If you work out the mpg by hand, it's usually less than the computer would have you believe (at least on mine it is!)

I thought that too, my car works about 2 or 3 mpg higher than the actual consumption.

Driving at about 65 in the Trophy i get about 34.5 mpg, giving it some welly round the lanes i get about 27mpg. Some of the guys who have done track days have got it down to about 14mpg.
