Can you get it done in this climate? I.e can you get everything you need? I'm struggling just to keep a 5 year old car going!

  Whichever has fuel
My one was rotten. And the previous owner had paid good money to have it all repaired but they’d just filed it all with mastic and filler and painted it. It looked mint from the outside!

But I was t in a position to fit new inert and outer sills etc and it wasn’t a ‘special’ car, just a standard Valver.

So bought a rust free shell and said “I’ll swap it all over in a week, no probs!”

That was nearly 11 years ago and I’ve still not finished! 😂

You’re doing the right thing getting yours repaired. 100%!

Still awaiting correct steering rack boots to arrive as ones I ordered first are too large. Once they arrive I can fit front subframe and suspension assembly to the car and pop it back on the deck up front.

Then I'll begin task of stripping underside from bulkhead back.

As such, nicked couple of shaft ends to make some hub blanks to save my brand new bearings collapsing.

Some progress made today, fitted the Williams ARB with the 172 wishbones and powerflex purple bushes all round.

Fitted the phase 1 172 inner track rods to the mk1 1.2 manual steering rack and bolts that to the frame. New boots fitted too.

New subframe bush also fitted to replace the tired original.

Bits:

Next job is to clean up threads on inner rods as they have paint on them, then I can connect them to the bump steer correction track rod ends and loosely track it so it can be moved to mates for welding

Decided couldn't resist the temptation and popped wheels on, dropped to deck and refitted the external bits to make it a full car again.

Got the old motivational juices flowing and as @Daniel so eloquently put it, get the tip all dewy :ROFLMAO:

Awesome mate 👍

Sorry if i missed it mate but what’s with the engine?

The engine is the reason she was laid up so long matey, got into trackdays and the turbo setup just couldn't hack it and I cracked two blocks in two years. So gave up and built the red mk1 for track and this languished on drive ever since, knickers round her ankles.

Now got a standard F7P lump to go in initially, then once all happy and used it for a bit, worked out niggles, refined and improved aspects of it for road use (like adding epas etc) I'll use the bits from the old engine build up another turbo lump. But that's way into the future

Stonking mate! Always listed over a gunmetal Valver when I had my Naples Red, what was the actual name for that colour?

Picked up refurbished rear beam from mate Justin who's been doing a few for us mk1 geeks recently. Fully disassembled, blasted and powdercoated and new bushes pressed in.

Great service and beam looks better than new. Good job too as my bushes were original and very worn

Cheers

Okay so, rear beam Friday clearly never happened and plans have moved on again, so idea is to strip entire underside of the car off and sort every bit of rust, then upol the lot and never worry again.

So week off this week, missus was in that bath and had a couple of beers in the sun on the patio looking at the car and thought f**k it, fuel tank off.

So baby steps again but getting more done ready for the big jobs ahead

Guard cat assisted, 7 year old fuel isn't nice and more rust above the fuel tank found and the heat shield from the tank is toast ....deep joy

Cheers!
