Looks like he did try to turn, but even at that speed, I'm guessing around 50-60mph, the front wheels would not be planted after a crest like that.

He turned into the corner alright, but as said before, for front wheels to work they kind of need to be touching the road.
Epic misjudgement, wasn't carrying too much speed for the corner, rather too much for the crest beforehand.

+1 You can tell when he intends to turn he leans in loads. He doesn't lean in much at all for that corner.
Pause at 0:19 and look at where he's got the wheel. Tracking must be well fucked if he ain't turning.
