Machine Polishers and all the jazz

  H&R + Pole Position'd Cup
Right, I've used AG SRP on my car and I've managed to swirl the paintwork to f*ck with it, so the time has come to buy a machine polisher and some shizz to go with it.

I've got around £160 to spend so I was looking at the Kestrel DAS-6, and the kits that CYC and i4detailing do with them.

So, the question is - If i was to buy the kestrel, what products/kit would be the best to buy and what else would I need? I've heard that it's a good idea to buy a spot pad for the Clio too? If this is the case, do I need a different backing plate too?

How the hell have you swirled the Paintwork with SRP? Usually its a good beginner Polish to use with a Machine Polisher to remove some Light Swirls

I am intrigued as to how you have swirled the paint work with SRP as well.

Oh well.

From reviews I would go for the Megs G220, not the kestrel.

Yes you need spot pads and therefore you need to by the 3.5" backing plate to go with it.

You need cutting polish, finishing polish and maybe a glaze as well if you want to go that far.

You will then obviously need to seal the paint work.

Using SRP and the AG polishing cloths you get with the kit. They arent typical swirl marks. More kinda smears in the paint that can only be seen in direct sunlight. I managed to do the same on my old car too :/

2secs I'll find pics of my oldold car to show you what i mean.

It isn't anywhere near as bad on my cup but heres what its like.

Yeah hologramming. That means that you have pushed the polish, rather than using circular movements. Typically caused by claying or harsh drying movement.

That will all come out with a good machine polish.

I've not read many DA reviews of late, mostly because detailing sites bore me to tears, but from what I remember when the 220 and DAS-6 landed on the scene they were getting similar reviews.

Can anyone link me to an up to date review that's claiming the 220 is the better machine? For the price if there's f**k all in it I'll probably still go for the DAS-6 but if it's something major I'll stump the rest and get the 220.
