Machine polishers??

Meguiars g220 seems to be the most popular for newbies like myself. I assume you know everything you need ?

Youll probably get better results with a DA too, its a lot safer and easier to use and control where as a rotary likes to do what it wants, rotary is also heavier. Rotary takes some getting used to and its pretty easy to warp pannels from heat and take the edges off paint. Where as you can pretty much jump in and do what you want with DA (maybe a little more care with the DAS6 pro).

Having started with a G220 and gone onto a cheap rotary for harder paint types, I would with hindsight got the DAS6 Pro as the G220 doesnt quite have enough bite when you want it too. The link Gally has posted will be ideal. Get some 3m Blue tape and clay the car before you begin.

Ive also broken 6 G220's and have only last week paid the electrician a box of cigars to fix it.

Have you already got one? No. You should get the DAS6pro over the G220.

I only use DA on Clio's. Its BMWs i use the rotary on.

Woo I can't up my mind. Some are saying use rotary and some DA. This is my first machine polisher and dont want to make more swirls than there already is ...

Okay so to answer your question Toms_clio, I THINK, the key difference between the DAS6 and the DAS6 Pro is more torque. Which means itll bite more and have more power. Basically, on the G220 and I assume the DAS6 too, when you push down hard on the machine it will stop spinning, but continue oscillating to prevent damage to the paintwork. I assume the DAS6pro will continue spinning even under heavy pressure but im not sure. I have the G220 and it definately needs more torque, which is why I said i would have got the DAS6 pro in hindsight. The g220 is unreliable, but Meguairs are brilliant at replacing them with no fuss.

With a rotary it just spins, and if you press down hard, well, youll have a big tasty mark on your paintwork.

I only really use the rotary on the BMW's I do, as its faster when trying to remove bad swirl marks, where as a G220 is pretty useless on BMW paintwork and takes a considerable amount of time. Depending on the products ive used, I will go back round the car with a G220 to remove marring from compounding because its so easy to get a good finish on a DA.

Indeed, the difference between the DAS6 and DAS6-PRO is the motor (500 watt vs. 850 watt). The 850 watt is the same motor as used in a lot of Rotary's from Kestral/DAS/Deltayo etc etc.
We have a 880 watt motor in our DAP 900, little bit less vibration and better end-bearing on it.

But back on topic: id deff. reccomend you a D/A machine with the 850/880 watt motor!
Don't start out with a Rotary, i see people trying to finish with a rotary and if your skills arent what they should be for rotary finishing, it will look worse than a D/A
