Machine polishing problems

I've got a machine polisher that I use on my cars, and 9/10 the car aways comes up ace.

BUT!

I've just taken a Chrysler Neon in part ex and its in a right state, i've been Machine polishing it for what seems like an eternity, with G3, but its not even touching the swirls/fadedness etc.

Is chrysler paint any toughr than other manufacturers???

Is there any other polish/past available?

Not familiar with that product, and not sure I'd trust it to have sufficient torque for the job.

But if you're not getting results I'd suggest a harder pad, with a better cutting compound. The Sonus SFX products you can't really go wrong with, something like the SFX-1 will cut some paint for you, but in all probability it's probably s**t paint.

It is a rotary so no reason why the machine itself is not up to the task, should be more capable than a PC.

Not a paint I have worked on but no reason for it to be any harder than the Germans use on Audis, BMW's and such like. What colour Dan ? Clearcoat, single stage ? How abrassive is your cutting pad ?

On hard paint I always step down to 4 inch pads on the PC and work in smaller areas, not sure if you have the option to do that with pads, but def. look into reducing the size of the area your working.

I also have no bench mark as to how abbrassive the G3 is in comparison to what I use. The Sonus SFX range of polishes would not be my choice to replace it with. I have had much better results with the Megs Pro Range or the Menzerna range than the Sonus.

Ah, Greetings polishers!

Rich, the Paint is non metallic black. and i'm going to try and cut the base plate down (it came with 3!) so i can fit 4" pads when i need to.

G3 was the most abrasive stuff that was on sale from the autoglym man, not sure what else i can tell you mate.

Hoff, the thing has more torque than my 197! on speed 6, its a tough job to keep the thing in your hands!!

Single stage or cleacoated ? I would guess the later ?

Out of the AG range of polishes I have only tried the Medium and Finishing polishes.

Maybe worth looking into some of polishes chap.

For me even on hard clearcoats Menzerna Intensive Polish normally comes good, and by Rotary that or Meguiars #83 comes good for Brazo on most details, but I have seen him step up to Meguiars #84 and a harsh cutting pad when the going gets tough.

Thanks Rich, Sound. Just wrote all that down, I will send the Mekon in work out to find me some on monday.

Something that could be a bench mark for the G3 dan is Menz Powergloss.

I bought it as i needed something like G3 but something that worked better.

If you wanted to try either of the Menz powergloss or the Intensive polish to see what works let me know.

Menz Powergloss works soooooooo much better than G3 in my opinion.

G3 is just far too rough and dusty unless you throw the water on and then you end up splattering everything.

I'm sure you should be able to correct it though with just the IP PO85RD3.02.

As above IP easily corrects the same level of defects that the G3 does in my mates bodyshop for me, how they are matched in abbrassive levels I am not sure.

Powergloss seemed a big step up in cut over the IP for me. Not one I use often.

I have one, as well as the Menz polishing pad, but not used either yet.
It is very firm though, so I would think it would be fairly aggressive.

g3 is the best ive used for cutting, but you need to use the full range faracla to do a decent job finish off with gold top on a black mop.
