Main hdd needs replacement help..

  Audi S3 225
Hi I need some help on choosing a new hdd for my computer. Mine is about to die any day now, it’s about 3.5 years old and I guess it’s been abused in its lifetime with quite alot of formats back in the day.

Anyway its started running really bad recently, xp sometimes takes ages to boot and sometimes I get a clicking noise and the computer starts lagging.

It’s only going to be used for the operating system and apps so doesn’t need to be big, just needs to be reliable, fairly fast and not too expensive.

Any ideas guys

Thanks

People have favorites, personally I'd probably go for something like Seagate which seem quite reliable.

go to the clearance section of overclockers and look up hard drives. Always plenty on there. Western Digital Raptors are the best and provided you motherboard has SATA capability then thats the route to take. If not then a decent IDE will suffice - i had an 80GB Maxtor like 3 years and it was absoloutely fine. Never borked.

IMO pointless buying a Raptor unless you have a s**t hot system as it simply is major overkill. A 150GB Raptor is £125, you can buy a 500GB SATA2 drive for that.

Not dissing the raptors as they are great but overkill in his system I expect.

Go to aria.co.uk check there supersepcials they usually have hard drives in there on offer
