major sub help needed

what do you peeps think is the best way to set this beauty up?
ive never installed a sub like this before and so dont know the best way to do the wiring, any ideas on what channel / power amp to use?
how should i set up the wires on the amp off either side of the sub?

you will need a mono amp.. tootles off to find out the spec on thesub

it does yes, any help would be great, ive read up on it and its should kick out some major bass, but its pathetic, my cheap old sony xplod pisses all over it, lol

ive obviously wired it up wrong somewhere along the lines!!!

i doubt youve got it wired wrong, its probably wrong box, underpowered amp etc.
im in a audio mood today im even wearing my team UK SPL jumper to work lol

what amp have you got
what box is it in
what guage wiring do you have etc etc

10 gauge wiring, its a standard 12" box, its only a cheap amp tho, its a renegade, 1200w 4ch

ok well for a start your starving the amp of power by using 10 awg... youll need 4 awg, think about trying to push water through a really thin tube, no matter how hard you pull yiur not going to get much out at all,

4awg isnt cheap mind

that amp isnt up to the job either
you need a class D mono amp at least 800wrms

other wise the sub will sound flatt and farty as there isnt enough power to even make it move..

another analagy, think of the best remote controll car ever.. its ment to be awesome but stick in some neraly dead battries and its slow and patehtic.

tbh im not too familier with pioneer stuff,
maybe think about selling that sub and then with the money getting a less powerfull cheaper one that will sound better with the current set up,

ill still be tempted to upgrade the amp and wiring tho

Go on ebay mate, and look for a shop called theloudest.co.uk.... they sell really decent gear they make themselves..

On ebay all there stuff is discounted for some reason, get their 3000w amp and wiring kit together to power the sub let me find you a link...

What makes u say that? I use a couple of their amps and i'm really happy with the results i get. Few of my mates own some other of their gear the 6x9s etc and equally are pleased.

Have u had any bad experiences with their gear, is it there something i should know?

The amp linked is only a 2 channel which for a start is no good...

Secondly i wouldnt be buying something that someone on ebay has supposedly made themselves tbh... but my own opinion!!

And 6x9's are for girls...

Yeah i know, i personally don't have 6x9s but like i said my mates do and they are happy. True i forgot it being 2 channel, but still i do think they are a good brand, they do the job on a good budget.

Thats what it comes down to at the end of the day !!!! I spent over £100 on cables alone !!!! but your system is only as good as your cable's !!! also you wana check the volts on your head unit rca pre-out's if you have got an avearage head unit it will only be 2/2.5 at the most you wana have as much as poss !!!(5v is what most top spec head units have )
Also you need a box matched to that sub to get the best out of it !!!
all the above is IMO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you could have 1 volt preout's it makes a blind bit of difference, you just have to set the gain accordingly.

as for cable yes get a good set of rca's but the supply cables just have to have the right size c.s.a. i wouldn't give a f**k if it was made by poundland or harrods.
