massive oversteer

  Black Clio 172

i had a major incident on a roundabout last night. i went into it a little fast (expecting understeer as usual) but got huge oversteer. i nearly ended up going backwards into a lampost. is this usual for a fwd 1.4 16v (lift off oversteer is hardly gonna happen). if it helps i have put 172 16s on with spacers at the rear. please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

brake before the bend, accelerate through it..........if you lift off mid bend the back end is always gonna get twitchy

yeah but its only a 100 bhp 1.4 16v - with 15s i only ever understeered. is there something i can do to correct this????

lift off..............of course its gonna come round!!! LOL i lifted off at 60 round a nice bend in my 1.2.........and it came round!!!! Was fookin mental..........!!! aint done it at that speed since lol! Its french, its fun, and its playful............lift off..but be ready ;) engine size is irrelevant once you have the speed to transfer the weight load.........just the more engine u have, the better chance u have of pulling it back in!!! :D

?? u got 172 wheels on the back n 15s on the front???? that aint gonna help handling feel?? Ideally u want some decent, communicative tyres - all the same size and correct pressures...........and get a feel for the car.......like Brun says, dont go hell for leather into a corner............or ur gonna have some work to do!!

i have 172 16s all round - the problem is i had to use spacers on the rear to stop rubbing. has this affected it at all??????????????? by the way i didnt go that fast into the corner and it took a pro to recover it from hitting the lampost

Dude i used to have a 60 bhp Ax with 15s, that thing didnt know the meaning of understeer. Light car with lots of front end grip and a light arse. Its going to come round everytime you back off round a bend.

yeah they can affect things, how thick are the spacers???

say your running 5mm spacers on the rear, the rear track is gonna be 10mm wider, not the best idea for handling!!! Plus contis dont help!!!!

front I I

rear I I

letting of the gas halfway through a corner at speed will set the tail wagging.done it in my cup a few times and that handles pretty well.just sounds like you were going to quick.
