Will one of these get me any real gains?
in comparison to what i have now - standard airbox with ITG panel filter?

let me answer for the masses

"vipers are s**t, get a maxogen"

i'm yet to see a maxogen gain 12bhp on a remap, i've seen vipers do it, ask Roamer if you don't believe me! even lord himself BenR saw gains back in hong kong

NOTHING wrong with a Viper, a BMC or a Maxogen, they all do the same thing, filter air

quickest 172's down the 1/4mile had a viper (13.9sec)

Okey cokey so I have a dilemma for you. Ive just got hold of a 2nd hand Viper. I currently have an ITG panel in orig airbox. Only other change to car is cat back exhaust. Should I fit the Viper & CAF or leave as is & sell the filter on hanging my head in shame thinking I know more about modding than I actually do LOL.

There is very little in it between mine and stoddies and his is cam'd! and running 207.

I wouldn't buy a maxogen...Esp bein scottish, I just happened to pay very little for mine!

Leave it as it is! The viper is messy and somehow as soon as you fit IK's they f**k things up, idle becomes irratic and the low down throttle response is gash.

My VX220 was ITGs test development car the the Maxogen for the VX - it saw 10bhp on the RR before and after.

^ Decent gain that! Mine was about 4bhp. Which on this engine is decent considering the location of the IK.

The money for a maxogen will get you out to the ring, buy you a few laps and currywurst's...I know what I'd rather do.

You'd get a high percentage of your money back if you come to sell a Maxogen so the added premium is all pretty much balanced out over the piece.
The quality of the kit and the way it fits is streets ahead of anything else on the market imo

Don't forget, not one engine is alike. So you may be lucky and have one producing more bhp than original. You go and fit a Viper and have a RR done and get a figure of like +12bhp and go "ah that Viper is ace". Yet someone else get's a different filter on a same model car but has less bhp. It might just be the engine. ;) Best way is if you are dirty rich is buy different ones and test them on the same car. :D
