Megane 2ltr Conversion Part Questions

Going to start assembling parts for this in the new year and ive been told i need a small bodied williams starter motor. Question is, are these really that different to the 16v ones? I notice that BBs website list an OE replacement and a high output version (both willy compatiable) - would these be ok to use??

Also, as to clutches - whats best? I will probably be sticking with a 16v box mated to the megane bottom end - will a normal 16v clutch fit ok?

Many Thanks!

GO for the high output starter motor from BB should be OK i would have thought !!! have no idea on the clutch tho m8 !! Good luck with this and let us know how it goes as i might attempt this early next year too !! Where are u gonna source your engine from ?

The standard clutch is fine, Not too sure bout the starter. I used the megane one and was fine for a day now i need a new one?? Think its just the starter went. But the valver one is no good for it.

Cool! It was actually nick hill that mentioned the "small bodied williams starter" - i assume he just meant a normal williams starter though as i take it they have more grunt to turn the 2ltr over than a 1.8 one does....

Might enquire at bb what the difference between the two are....

the 2litre block casting is different. theres extra strengthening ribs on the surface, that way u cant fit the normal 1.8 starter. the small bodied motor is better anyway, 1.1kw output compared to the 0.8kw of the normal motor.

get themegan starter with the block, yu cant get away with the 16v one but use it as exchange with renault and the williams one is only £80 anyway
