Megane Coupe Engine Conversion..

  Looking for a Mk1 Clio?
Hey guys,

I've come across from Coupe-Club, and i am looking into what possible Enginee Conversions i can do in my car.

I have a Megane Couple 2.0 8v at the moment, but i want to do a conversion in the not to distant future.

I know its a costly job but im fed up of the ignorance you can get from replies at CC. I have heard you guys are the people to speak to and ask about this, and this is why im posting here.

I will be looking for the best route for power, and what else i will need to do. Something around 180+ bhp maybe.
People say the Chasis in a Megane can't handle conversions, is this true? If so how can i go about re-enforcing this to take the pressure off the Chasis?

Please only helpful opinions.

The F7R from the Meg 16v and Williams will fit, they use different heads though so I'm not sure if the looms etc are the same. A healthy one with cams will show 170ish.
Or you could get a loom, engine, ecu etc from a 1*2 and fit the F4R.....

Best bet is buy a complete meg coupe 2.0 16v cat d or cat c and transfer everything over. The one you want is the 97 - 99 model with an F4R 710 engine fitted ( similar in design and power to the williams lump ) You can pick a car up for about £400 damaged. Easy transplant

The chassis will take it - dont worry about that

Chassis will start VF1DAOH or VF1EAOH

This would be ideal but you may as well sell your 2.0 8V and use this :D

id go for the above idea by buying a 2.0 16v coupe and you have everything needed.

but if you fancy a challenge an F4R from a 172/182 clio would be ideal but not sure how much hastle it is? although it has been done before.

the chassis will be fine! decent suspension and brakes and you'll be all set!
