The new megane 2.0 has a small turbo..is it the same as the 172 engine but with a turbo but with inferior mechanicals..hence detuned?

Is anyone thinking what im thinking?!

?

amaze me

(and its not a 172 turbo its a 2.0 vel satis lump)

rob, i believe you are thinking tha the 2.0l TB vel satis lump could be transplanted

tom, rob does ask "if it is the same", and does not say "it is the same"

well the bore & stroke are the same and they both have vvt

so you may be right but in the megane its running over 200bhp

putting in a clio is possible but it would cost as much as a 172 and be just a bit slower (with 160bhp not 200bhp)

just asked my local renault dealer about this engine

apparently it is the same block as the 172, but the compression has been lowered to accept the turbo

it will be either a garrett or KKK turbo

hope this helps

Its is the same engine, except for some turbo adaptions such as oil feeds and returb holes in the block, a diff had, turbo cam profiles, damn heavy crank, diff pistons.....etc etc...

But essentially, it can be bolted straight into a clio...but it only makes 170bhp....the 200bhp one for the new megane sport will be far too expensive to buy and slap in.

Itll be easier to mod the vel satis, megane, espace turbo F4R motor to get in excess of 250bhp.

Does nobody rememmber the captain and what hes doin!!!!!

does 320bhp turbo clio spring to mind?

You may as well wait a while !! Due to a 2.0l turbo lump going into the Megane. Later this year !! With a six speed gear box to boot !!

Oh what fun that will be !!
