melt down

i have recently put a steal exhaust on my 172 and i have recently noticed that it is melting my rear bumper. Any one else had this problem? i fitted it my self and im sure i left enough gap between it and the bumper but am i just going to have cut abit more of the centre section?

maybe cut the tip mate??? might be wrong but mines cut and no signsof burning what so ever or faf around with adjustment
