Metal 2 Racing Gear Shifter

Anyone seen / heard about / tried these ? Looks like a fancy bit of kit, similar to the CAE shifter.

Looks interesting. CAE are all cable shifters I believe, is the mk1 Clio a bar shifter like the MK2s?

You can see the bottom end in one of the pics, the cable is only for reverse I guess.

I'm trying to weigh up the benefits of this over a PMS shifter.....

It looks more solid than the PMS, i've seen vids where the lever wobbles too much and i like the fact that the Metal2Racing one appears much sturdier BUT its £460 for the Metal2Racing shifter and £330 for the PMS shifter !

not comparable to the pms, 172/182 is rod shifter not cable.

It only replaces part of the system, similar to bms I guess.
Be Interesting to know how they feel

my bad, thought it was one of the cable ones. as it's for the jc5 etc then i'd say overengineered, handy to fine tune the stops but in the real world not really needed.

Still has the lower bush compared to spherical bearings on the pms setup. Fancy shifter but not the full package

PMS doesn't have a lower spherical bearing. It has a spherical bearing in the top of the tower bit.

Pms has cartridge bearings on the rod at both ends. Far better than bush setup

that is the look they went for, like the CAE shifters, or the shifters in the Exige

Likewise, I’d love a CAE shifter. Was disappointed when I found out they didn’t make one for the 1*2. This would be very nice indeed, looks the part but possibly way too over engineered? Not that that would stop me, the choice of colours they show might though...

The RS logo looks good, the branding however looks like it’s trying to be (iirc from need for speed on PlayStation) skunk2 lol

Maybe like the SM inlets they offer different logos? If it’s laser cut, then possibilities are limited by what they can do/imagine

Made in Italy. Have to order by messaging them via Facebook. Took about 25 days.

If the feedback turns out to be good maybe someone could see if a group buy could be possible,I have a CAE Shifter on my track Impreza and it’s night and day compared with the standard Sti set up.SJ.

Tell a lie... i have started to fit it....

It's not a straight forward plug and play. Mounting it appears to be custom. I believe these were designed to fit to the MK1 clio's.

Will have to measure it and someone with a PMS can measure theirs as i don't have that data.
