Mew XPS Laptop M1530

Car  Black/Gold 182!
Well had this delivered on Friday! Im amazed, such a good laptop. Got the top of the range one in the end with a good discount.

Anyone else got one??

Playing round windows vista aswelll now which is quite wierd, anyone got any tips/hints about it.

Paul

Had mine since January and its the nuts! just need to upgrade to 4GB and sorted :)

Bluetooth + Sony Ericsson = Win :)

vista tip..

uninstall and install xp :P
for home use vista blows xp out of the water, so much fresher and does everything a home user needs well.

I just dont like it.. got some apps and peripherals that are not vista compatible. I installed it on a second partition a while ago in the attempt to slowly migrate to it but just didnt like it. it looks awesome but it's not for me... yet ;)

Our accounts girl has just had one. Must say I'm impressed with the looks of it. I've had 2 Dell laptops so far and both have been perfect.

Ive had my XPS M1330 since Sept last year. Getting 4gb in a few weeks Ultimate should run even faster then. Mines a top end too! Biometerics on yours?
(Have to use boring XP at work though Yawn.)

Snap!!

My XPS M1530 was delivered on Friday too!!

I love it, really nice bit of kit, like you i'm just getting used to Vista but it is quite nice and mine runs it very well (I opted for the 4GB RAM option!)

Got mine Thursday - 2.6Ghz Core2/4Gb/BD-RE/Vista Ultimate/5520 HSDPA module and Intel 4965BGN. Considered the 64Gb flashdrive but having had one on test I'm dubious to the 'massive' performance advances and my Latitude lasts an hour LONGER on a 5400rpm traditional disk.

same spec as my sony although i have a high res 17" screen, 2 x 320gb hdd's RAID0 and a 512mb graphics card.

really does fly!

I've got a Dell XPS M1530 too.
Had the 4Gb Ram, not much point tbh as Vista can only run at 3.6Gb!
Its a lovely bit of kit and love the biometric finger print reader.

If I'm right in thinking you can allocate 1gb for graphics in the bios and have the other 3gb running the OS

before sp1 my laptop said i had 3gb ram, since sp1 it now reports correctly at 4gb so not sure if they have done something to sp1 to allow it to use all the memory or if they have just given in to the consumer and reported that its using all the ram when it isn't so as just not to confuse the user into wondering why when they have 4gb ram installed it only shows 3gb in windows lol.

I'll upgrade Vista to XP1 then, see if it works. The update is avaialble to download, just not done it yet.
Its a known issue with Vista only running at 3.6Gb.
The 400Mb are allocated to Graphics and other resource, but when you have seperate Graphics memory what really is the point ?!

We have some XPS M1330s for sale here in work. 2.2Ghz, 2GB, 160GB and some have the WLED screens and are around £500.

you are lucky to get 3.6gb tbh, its normally between 3gb and 3.5gb.

Its the same with xp as its the fact that its a 32bit app, thats why i'm not sure whether its vista 'telling me' its using 4gb or whether it actually is now.

I think the latter as it still only shows 3gb physical in task manager.
