Middlesbrough to Portsmouth In 182

Last night i drove my brother from Middlesbrough to Portsmouth and it only cost me 35 pound each way. I was getting about 38mpg sitting at about 80 on the cruise control (on the way back, as it was too busy on the way their) what a quality car it is to drive, its his car but he failed his test.

I am getting my car in the morning at 11pm Titanium Silver 182 with cup pack. I cant wait. But back to the main point, why is the mpg so good. I was better than my 1.216v clio. I didnt even have to refuel on the way back up thats 340miles without fueling. Quality, didnt think it would be that good. It must be because of the the variable valves that open after 5,000revs and i was always below 5,000.

Because 80mph in a 1.2l will probably be revving higher than a 80mph in a 2l.Less revs usually equals less petrol used.

Yeah thats what i thought as i noticed i was doing about 1500 less refs at 80mph. I though it would eat the petrol but it doesnt. Woohoo, it will probably save me money as im in the navy and ill be travelling every weekend from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough.

My 1.2 used to do 50mpg on the motorway at 80mph. Averaged 51mpg on a Journey from Bristol to Cardiff and back with a fair bit of driving around Cardiff in the rush hour. Mind you it was better in town and could average 55mpg over a tank in urban driving.

Thats the computer reading, my manual calculations based on how much I put in at the pump were a few mpg less.

When did you order your 182?

The 2 litre engine is very fuel efficient engine plus below 80mph and youll still be outside the on cam zone coupled with the fact the car weighs very little over a tonne. If youd been doing a steady 60mph youd only have been doing approx 2500rpm which is prob the optimum speed for max mpg

Nope i get mine tomorrow. I will not be getting rid of it the next time i go away ill just let my mother and father drive it.
