Mileometer reset knob button HELP?

Hi

I recently bought a 172 02reg, the mileometer reset knob button doesn't work? No matter how hard u press it or twist it, it stays on how many Miles the car has done :S the strange thing is it sumtimes changes from MPG and Fuel distnace etc it self

Anyone else had this problem?

You can't reset the total miles done by the car.

You sure you're not accidently knocking the end of the stalk? I kept doing that for the first few weeks until I worked out where the scroll button was!

u cant reset it whilst the total milage is up, scroll round to ur mpg or summat using the botton on the end of the stalk, then hit the reset thing.
