Sold one of my old cars to a Chap who made my previous list of cars a bit crap.

One of his favourite cars was a berg vxr. I mentioned about the hate and he just laughed.
Must of been one of my mates, there cant be that many vauxhall fans out there surely.

Fit my new tail lights today, cars desperate for a clean.

I'll be honest, when i put them on, they didn't look quite as well as i hoped, i think once the cars cleaned up nicely, they'll look good, ( car really is filthy ) definatly better than the standard items imo, and its bye bye to a bit more chrome, which is good.

Much better rears. You can also fit the ones with the circle in the top.

Cheers, Yeah i think I've seen those, prefered these though.
You don't have the original chromes grills do you? Ours has the JCW black parts and the woman wants it to look more original/chrome.
You mean up front on the bumper? If so afraid not

Edit. Bonnet

These landed this afternoon! £180 0ff the retail price via the group buy, adjustable rear control arms next and a whiteline rear arb, then get it all fitted and happy days!

FLOL I’m always just too late on stuff like this... wish I’d bought the car a month earlier now!

Gave the car a quick wash today, it’s f**king caked in tar! The wheels are the same, full of brake dust, decided it’s beyond the effort I’m prepared to put in, so been on the blower to a local detailer, the cars going in a few weeks for a 3 stage polish and whatever else they do, will get the headlights restored also if that’s not included as there a bit hazy, once it’s done I’ll keep on top of it.

Will probably get the alloys refurbed this year also, ones a bit Kerbed, other 3 are pretty decent tbf.

Tar [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Yeah no worries dan! Since speaking to the guy whos going to detail it, ive realised its a lad i know from years ago, hes in the process of starting up, so prices are very reasonable!

I just want it minting up, then I can keep on top of it, do I keep the wheels silver is the next question, quite tempted by a nice gold, seen other dark silver minis with gold wheels that looked very nice, but I think from memory they where bbs rims, not sure the turinis would pull it off.

  535d / t5 caravelle
Same wheels, just debating keeping them silver or having a change of colour, not black though.

Just droppef the car off for a much needed detail, pick it up sunday at some point, gave it a wash before i dropped it off, it appears a few things are falling off [emoji23], bit of the door card has come off, ( i blame the mrs, she was in it when it happened ) wont go back on as a couple of clips have broke off, I'll sort ankther one off ebay.

One side of the bumper is hanging lower than the other, and is a bit loose, speed bumps!

Will get my mate at the bodyshop to look at it.

Ordered some adjustable rear control arms, nitrac rear discs and pads are next on the list.

In other news, regarding performance, a 65 plate golf r didn't go anywhere, when trying to embarass me upto tripple figures, surprisingly quick this mini, a cam and tune would work wonders, 25 bhp +

221 bhp, msd coilpack, ngk iridium spark plugs, jcw air box/itg filter, full miltek exhaust, airte top mount intercooler, 15% reduced pulley, quaife diff etc.

I was travelling at reasonable speed with nothing behind heading towards the motorway, next thing theres a golf r sat a foot off my bumper, he pulled next to me on a round about with traffic lights heading onto the motorway, lights changed he fucked off straight away, upto end of 4th pulled about a car on on me, given the start he got, i wasnt impressed with it tbh, i know theres gonna be doubters, but thats what happened on this occasion.

Way i see it, once there rolling whats the transmission loss equate to? 260bhp ish? Guessing.

1st 2 gears where on a bend, quaife diff is mega!

Megane would have made mince meat of it.

I love golf r's and if i could afford one, id buy one tomorrow, tweaked of course!

Are they all that standard golf r's? ( straight line performance )

300bhp 4x4, must weigh a fair whack?

Not driven one but I’d imagine they are very quick.

Good effort though, in a ladies automobile too.

Ha! Well i may well be proven otherwise, happily!

But if im giving it the beans, hes not driving like mrs daisy otherwise I'd be in the back of him.

It's always fun to have a play with other cars but I don't see a MCS hanging with a Mk7 Golf R in a straight line. They do about 11 seconds to 100. A standard Mini must be what, 17 seconds? (I know yours isn't standard)

I totally get what your saying, and im not trying to say my mini is rapid, its just pretty capable, golf r is 14 seconds quarter mile when i last checked, so take the start off em, 14 seconds ain't that quick imo.

Both cars off the line, golf r would no doubt pull away nicely, rolling start, not so much, modded golf, yes please 11 seconds quarter mile!

Picked the car up from the detailers yesterday, done a cracking job, paintwork feels like glass now rather than sandpaper!

Very happy with it, got something i can keep on top of now.

The loose bumpers worse than i thought, its got a big crack in it, going to see if my mate can plastic weld it, or may have to get a new one.

Excuse the crap pics

so the bumpers not quite gone to plan, got it repaired and resprayed, the colours well off the rest of the car, and the repair has a tiny crack forming from when we fit it, to much presure on the fixing mount, its been repaired with fibreglass as it could not be plastic welded, so its getting redone at some point, although i am debating buying a new replica bumper and getting it sprayed up. selling this one will cover the costs.

rang bmw today, no where in the uk has any jcw aero bumpers.

also got the headlight rings in for colour coding.

Sounds like you're having a right pain with that bumper. If you watch Wheeler Dealers I think it's the one with the 8 series, Edd shows you how to repair the bumper properly.

  535d / t5 caravelle
Tbh I’m loosing faith in it and looking at alternatives, how much do you spend on trying to sort out an old bumper? So far it will stands me at £150, not give anything yet, but once it’s been repainted, that’s what I will owe.

Fortunately there’s a few options I have, standard cooper s bumper, and could get some brake ducts fitted, like the look of these, another new replica jcw bumper, again get some brake ducts fitted at the same time. Been googling and found some nice looking cars with both bumpers, so just need to decide which route I take, my current bumper should cover the costs of a new bumper, there’s a couple on ebay that are in a right state, multiple cracks etc and there £285+

I’ll dig some pics out, might colour code some of the grill also.

  535d / t5 caravelle
all the pics below are of a standard cooper s bumper with brake ducts fitted instead of the fogs, apart from the last pic, which is a jcw bumper with brake ducts fitted, tough decision, i like both looks tbh, might get a cooper s bumper, and try both looks out.

all the pics apart from the 2nd one have colour coded grills, looks much better imo, its on the jobs list.

opinions welcome!

mot today, it needed a tie rod and a bulb, for the last few months the brakes haven't felt quite right, they failed on the brake test, the brake balance was well out, one of the calipers was seized, which explains why when i locked it up at 90mph it started going sideways! [emoji23]

All sorted now, will have to give them a small test and regain some confidence in them, the brakes used to be epic! so hopefully there back upto scratch.

The bumpers not cracked anymore so far, so fingers crossed it wont, if it doesn't it will be staying and getting resprayed the correct colour and I'll probably get some brake ducts for it. the cracks not bad at all tbh, its just one of those little annoying things that get on your tits.

Next job is to get the coilovers on...............

then really smash the bumper to pieces!

crack in bumper below

my mate picked the car up today to respray the bumper the right colour, whilst its in ive asked him to colour code part of the upper and lower bumper grill, and the headlight rings, although i did put a crack in one of the rings whilst removing it as it was glued on, so may have to purchase a couple of new ones, will see how he gets on.

getting the door handles and wing mirror covers gloss black.

keep looking for things to do/buy with this, but really need to concentrate on getting me coilovers fitted! maybe next month........
