Mini on Fire!

  172 Cup

Just took me mum to the post office and saw a brand new mini Cooper go up in flames:eek:

Woman owner said it had just done 500 miles and was less than a week old. Would like to see what BW have to say when she tells them!

OMG!!! i have heard storys about about a few issues with those BMs but nothing like that!!

you have to laugh tho, thats quite funny.:D

Wasnt there something wrong with the Antistatic lining of thier fuel tanks.... oh I dont know! Probably dreampt it...

when the new minis where first set on sale... they recalled them all with faults on the fuel lines causing them to go up in flames...

obviously there is still a problem... "RECALL OF ALL MINIS" will be in the news paper within a week ;)

Nah your right, there was massive dangers when filling up the Mini, static build up on the lining could cause sparks and BOOOOM. But and Mini just going up in flames sounds a bit strange to me.

Dificult to tell from the pic but the engine bay was literally missing and the bonnet had been blown off. You can see its just about attached on one side.

Looked at what was the engine and the Fireman said it looked like a bomb had gone off not just a small fuel leak!

Perhaps CooperS-Boy will be here later with information about this problem.

My Cooper got recalled twice in the 6 months I had it. One for the above problem of being liable to blow up when filling it with petrol and the other for a dodgy handbrake cable. Not had any letters through about my new one though..................YET!!!

BOOOOOOOMMMMM !!!

LOL at mental image of CooperS-Boy standing next to what used to be his mini.. covered in black soot with the petrol pump still in his hand.. hehe

Whats the SC like on them? Ive been told in the past that SCs arnt as effective at high RPMs... does the Cooper suffer in the same way?
