misfire and engine management light on

hi guys been lurking for a few weeks reading up on the 172 and finally got one yesterday
it was a private sale and the car was running lovely and did about 300 miles with no issues
today it has developed a misfire and the engine management light has come on
the car now sounds like a subaru
i have taken each individual plug lead off at the coil pack and there was no difference in engine note

i am thinking to check in this order
plugs (looks fun)
coil pack
ht leads
injectors

any other ideas and any way of testing the coil pack

ok fixed it one of the injectors was half way unplugged
any ideas how to reset the management light now

take battery off for an hour

Battery has been disconnected but hasn't reset the light. I think I need to get it turned off via diagnostic software?

I've got this one, works fine.

i have one of these but it wouldn't read my error code so i bought a elm 327 off ebay and it managed to tell me "misfire cylinder 1"
