misfire on a 182 sport

  172 cup
hello, since i bought my 182 sport 6 months ago, the idle has always been lumpy and occasionally the engine light would flash when you start it but would go off if you turned the engine off and restarted it.

how ever in the past couple of weeks ive had a really bad missfire when starting from cold but would go away once warmed up but would still have a lumpy idle. i put it in for mot and it passed but had problems with doing the emissions on idle. apprently the cat was glowing by the time they finally mamage to get the correct readings.

so since then ive changed the plugs, plug 2 was burning differently to the other 3 and still no change so tried my mates coil pack and no difference. today i got genuine HT leads hoping that would be the problem and still no change. still a lumpy idle. to me it drives fine, it pulls well but i just have that problem of lumpy idle and the engine light flashing and then staying on. if i hold the revs at 2k it'll dip between 1.5k and 2.5k. it wont stay steady at 2k?

so what else could it be? a mate of mine said try changing the fuel filter as it could be full of crap. thing is ive spent so much on new plugs, leads, mot and i dont really want to spend anymore till i know thats the problem.

any help would be appreciated, thanks Ro

MAP sensor, they don't have a servicable fuel filter

again like a lot of people you've refused to take the car to somewhere that has a diagnostic computer, spent a lot of money on parts your dad/mate/dog reckons that's causing it and you've got nowhere

GET IT PLUGGED IN!

MAP sensor is on the drivers side of the inlet manifold, plugged in the side, as Fred said though mate, get some proper diag done on it, it will save you money in the long run
