Misfiring... think my engine is about to sh*t itself :(

Any one able to enlighten me on what the fault with my car is?? It started an hour or 2 ago, clio has gone into limp mode with the engine management light flashing on and off constantly.... Car seems to be misfiring, can't tell if it is running on less than 4 cylinders or what but the car is shaking with the force of the engine rocking violently.... sh*tting bricks tbh because I really don't want to replace then engine (though I will if I have to).... Anybody help?

Have you had any other symptoms leading up to this?

Sounds like a classic misfire to me, have you recently got the engine / plugs / coils wet?

Coil pack, HT leads or a plug.

Not got wet that I know of (only puddles local are an inch deep tops), had a full service and MOT at end of august so plug should have been done then... And HT leads and coil pack come as one piece on non-sports no?

Heart monitor light means Electrical Fault mate

Much more likely to be an injetor or coilpack etc than a mechanical problem, but dont keep using it till its fixed, as its easy to end up with a bust piston from driving with a duff injector etc.

Ive just solved the misfire on my 1.2 16v, No1 injector was at fault. Stuck a new one in and it solved it

Luckily guys it is fixed, it was a dead coil pack. £46.78 later I have fitted a new one and it is running spot on thanks for the advice guys, you are what makes CS awesome

I knew before I even opened this thread it was coil pack. Always is on 1.2s

Haha as said cheers chip! never seen my car in limp mode and I changed the coil pack when I first got the car because someone had broke one of the HT leads... So second coil pack for the car in the 3 years I have had it but first experience with limp mode... So panicked a fair amount expecting my engine to be dying with it sounding like a chopper haha!
