Missing Exhaust Mount?

Any one tell me if there should be some sort of mount attached to the threaded bolt here in pic?

Exhaust seems to bounce quite a bit in this middle section.

Ta.

Looks more like one of the threads to hold the heat shield on.

Cheers danward.

Does it, hmm it seems like it needs some sort of mount around there as it is very unstable and shifts about too much in my view.

Anyone know if i could add one? maybe use the bolt as a start point??

Only mounts are the 2 rear, the plate mount between the back and middle box and then the one on the centre section.

It is just after the middle box. A rod comes off and then sits in a rubber hanger. If you look under the car on the drivers side looking at the middle box it is at the back.

Are you saying its shifts around too much while its split? Or even after fixing.

Are the mounts fairly new, they corrode a lot, especially the middle one.

Cheers, will take a look when i get chance.

The bolt in question is unused.

Cheers.

Mounts are pretty old.

Yeah, i temp fixed it with a bit of tin and some paste but the excessive movement in that area seems to undo my handywork!

I am hoping when it's welded properly it will be ok for a while until i invest in a complete new exhaust.

This worked for me, but you may want to measure first. Cut the metal part down so only two holes are left, after the first hole, put a 90 bend in it & then attach to the unused bolt with a locknut. I can't remember the size, but if you are going to Halfords for that part pick up a pack of assorted lock nuts & there will be one that fits in the pack

Thanks again mate, looks like a M8/10 to me.
