Clio 172 + 172 cup
I went down to Leigh On Sea yesterday to pick up the new car. The guy selling it couldn't be there until 6:30pm, so by the time it was loaded up and I was back up to Nottingham we were unloading at 10:30, after which I had to get my trailer back to work and ended up not getting to bed until close to 1am, which when you get to my age isn't something you do very often.
The plan is to get the car sorted out for track days and perhaps a bit of racing, although I'm not so sure about that.
There were a load of bits in the car so I started to sort through those. I found a pair of Schroth 6 point harnesses, both out of date but OK for my track days..
A spare pair of front brake disks.
And a boot full of other assorted parts, including the headlights (and a set of headlight blanks), radiator with fan, various bits of plumbing and a 172 exhaust manifold and 172 cup ECU.
The interior hasn't had a lot done to it, there is a cage and cut off switch, and plumbed in extinguisher. I'll have to get a seat and steering wheel.
The engine bay will need a bit of work, but at least all the connectors have been labelled.
The suspension is pretty much sorted.
and it has good tyres on it and new brake pads all round, along with new top mounts.
Whilst I was there I also picked up an orbisoud cup racer exhaust to go on the car with a 100 cell race cat.
The car should be going to the workshop at work in a couple of weeks when we have the new lift installed so I can start work on it there. In the mean time I'm on the lookout for an engine and box which I can drop in, then I'll sort out what else is required. I'll keep you all updated on progress.
