mk 1 v6 at £10 is it worth it

  Disco 5 ,Monaro VXR
Looking on autotrader and noticed that you can get a decent mk1 for around 10k now.

i know that they arent as good as mark 2

however how would they compare to the 182 i had before?

anybody who has switched between the two?

also wonder if a 182 trophy would be better?

  Glacier White 197 Cup
only even been in 172's and 182's however from what most people say on here they are totally different cars. suppose it depends what your looking for. Vee is for looks and go where i would say trophy is a more chuckable fun and rewarding car. just depends what you are looking for.

The Mk1 V6 is shocking, it looks like a Max Power enthusiast got hold of a wide body kit, selotaped it onto a 172 and then ram raided Halfords. They just look wrong, cheap and badly designed, Mk2 V6 is worlds apart in looks... even then that's the only appeal I can see in one...

They've got nowhere near the practicality of a 172, but they are great machines. The handling is known to be lively and can bite an inexperienced (or experienced come to think of it) driver. Evo rate them highly and a specialist such as Mark Fish Motorsport can tweak things to make it more comparible to the Mk2 version. It's a car that should be ultimately more rewarding to own than a 172. All imo.

How many owners it had ? coils done ? cambelt done on it ??

not sure two incl dealer i think and as for the others has full renault main dealer service history so im guessing so.

but it is renault so you never know

im tempted to buy it keep it for 6 months and sell on and not lose much if any money on it

If it hasn't has the cambelt done (which it should have by now) your looking at circa 1k fotr that !!

The coils (which always seem to go) are circa £50 each - remember there are six of them.

When I was looking I found that most who had only had them a short while (like you plan to if you get it) the ones I did see where they'd only had them a little bit were s**t, they also seemed to know nothing about the car either !

Dude I got mine from had it for four years (he got it a year old) he only sold up as he had a 5 week old kid.

If the car is good for the dosh (especially not cat d etc) get it - but beware of the cambelt.

cheers ill ask if it hasnt been done ill just get him to lower the price

im guessing you like yours and rate it over 182 then?

I love mine to bits, i've had it a month tomorrow. I spent a few months looking for one, as most were rubbish, or just sounded rubbish on the phone (most sellers only buying it to say they'd had one  )

You can't compare a v6 to a 182 at all tbh, they are totally different cars.
