MK1 1.2 Not turning over (won't start)

Hi guys,

Just encountered a problem with my MK1. 2 days ago it was running fine but when I went to start it today, it wasn't turning over. I've charged the battery up and checked the terminals etc. but still no luck. You can hear the solenoid click but the starter motor doesn't turn. Bypassed it by putting direct power to the bottom terminal starter motor from the battery and turned the key, it spun the starter motor and it started.

Still won't run unless I put direct power to the starter motor, any ideas?

Relay or a bad earth then.

Its the live feed on the starter motor, check it n clean it. lemme know if it works. Good luck

My stepdad said he did that already earlier but still nothing. He says he reckons it's a faulty solenoid? Guess the whole starter motor unit needs a refurb!
