MK1 1.4 Automatic Opinions

Hi everyone, just joined this site as I've been offered a N Reg 1.4 Automatic with 65k miles. Just wondered what people's opinions are, obviously if I get it I'll be posting a lot more

Just want some kind of information if you don't mind like rough mpg? Anyhting to look out for? Also first automatic car so is as good as a manual obviously without being a bit slower?


Anything you feel I would like to know please feel free to say as I'll appreciate it, thanks a lot.

My gf had one which she sold to Djw Dave. With her driving it went for ever on petrol, not so much with Dave!

We fitted 15" alloys which made it look better but made it even slower! The big thing to watch out is that the box works properly, not known for being solid!

Will need new cam belt and aux belt. Check if it's been done. Also check for leaking sunroof and rust bubbling on the rear arches.

My Mum has one of these, they're not too bad.... LOL
