Mk1 172 Buying Advice

Hi all,

Thinking of buying a Mk1 Clio 172. Have a budget of around £4500. I have some spare time next week so I'm thinking about going to view a couple local to me.

What should I be looking out for? Any common problems / things to watch?

Thanks in advance,
John

All problems should be sorted a worn gearbox and clutch might occure depending on milage check for unknown noises and crash damage though.

£4.5k is way to much though £4k at best for a phase 1 IMO.

You cna pick them up for £3k on the trader if you wait about with higher milage on.

£4.5k maybe for a mint low milage perfect car with everything but you cna pick up phase 2's for that price (not saying phase 2's are worth it though).

Buy mine

Anyway, look out for the exhaust, they will drop off after 40k miles, so make sure that's been replaced. Cam belt needs doing at 72k or 5 years, so make sure that's been done too.
