mk1 172 electric window mechanism broke

  172, Westfield
Went to put my window up today and all I heard was cracking and the window wouldnt come up! Stripped the door card off and there are pieces of wire that go from the motor to the window mechanism and they have came away from there attachment points as the plastic clips have broken!
Am I going to have to replace the whole motor assembly or can you buy parts for it?
Should I just book it in to renault or is it easy enough to do?

This happened to me a few months back loud crack then window fell out of the runners! :(

If its the clip on the motor then yes you will have to buy another motor.

DO NOT book it into renault mate its easy to do plus the fact they want nearly £200 just for the motor!!

Get the motor from euro car parts an change it yourself, think its only bout 3 bolts holding the motor in an 2 for the bit near the window (not sure what its called) so not hard to change.. You may hav to re-wire the plug for your new motor.

good luck ;)

As above really. It'll be the plastic clip that's broken and Renault will want £300 all in to fix it, as they don't supply the 50p clip on it's own.

The new one I got had the plastic bit made out of a different plastic, so they obviously know it was a problem.

If you've managed to get the door card off OK it will be no problem for you to fix. Tape everything up afterwards or it will all rattle.

Try eurocarparts as above, gsf, or you could try matt black on here etc.

Paid £70 for the regulator and fitted it within an hour, easilty done.

Hardest bit is ripping all the door trim off.
