Mk1 Clio 16v gearbox the same as 19 16v

My mate has just knackered his diff and we need a replacement. Is the 19 16v gearbox the same as the one in the Clio 16v? I need to know for definate asap.

The diesel gear box off the 19 goes on me thinks !! So maybe the 19 16v would go on but the gear ratios are different me thinks !!

Leigh - the 19 TD one is the same as the Williams! Not the same as the 16v!

Sorry, dont know if 19 16v and Clio 16v boxes are the same - but I doubt it as the 19 16v will probably have different ratios as it is a heavier car.

no they are not the same , 19s are geared differently

Reno 19 diesel box is a cheap and easy fix to screwed Clio 16v box, but I do wonder how unsuitable the gearing might be, anybody driven one with such a box
