Mk1 Clio Steering Rack

On the passenger side end of the steering rack. theres a male thread that goes into the track rod end. This thread has snapped. I've taken the Gatior off nearest to the snap and its got a ball joint under it. how do i change just the end secton of the steering rack.. Hope you understand.

I belive its the track rod. how do i change this :-S

not the track rod end just the track rod?

hmmm. Not sure tbh mate. track rod end is easy enough, but on newer cars. My mk1 track rods are stiff as they come, wont budge an inch.

new rack?
it's only 4 bolts and the pinch bolt iirc. Shouldnt be too hard on the 1.2 and iirc it's a manual rack so there are loads about

the rod end separates from the rod as you know. I've never looked under the gaitors in the rack tho

under the gatior is a ball joint but i cant really tell if theres a thread any where to undo it. and if they are Revserv turn thread or some thing :-(

  172 exclusive
theres 2 makes of rack swr and gkn
gkn has no spanner flats on the ball (where it joins the rack) these are available seperatly
swr has spanner flat these arnt available only option to buy a rack
they are not interchangeable.
both are difficult to undo with rack on car you find everything is in the way from underneath (normal rh thread, loctited)

Heres a picture if any one can tell :-(
