Mk1 gearbox

Hello there people i have a mk1 clio rl oasis and my gearbox is on its way out I have been told that the megane gearbox is the same just a different top mount am I right to believe this?

Got some more info the gear box in my clio is a jb1138 and the megane is a jb1510 if that helps

If they are different part numbers id assume they prob wont fit ! is it that hard to find a box with that part number on ?

No I have sourced one now but I have the jb1510 sat in my garage a spare and just wondered if it would fit rather then spending more cash for no reason

Ahh right makes sense , well unless somebody else could say different i would think they aren't interchangeable, i could be wrong though !

Not tried a megane one personally, but the mk2 clio boxes fit mk1 clios if you just change your top mount, so it sounds reasonable a megane one would too.

If you have it there, why dont you just try?

Meganes and clios share the same casings. You may just need to use a mk2 clio upper gearboc mount.

Meganes do just have to check it has a speedo drive as they change after a certain year.

Mk1 ph1 16v (F7R-710/712) will use speedo drive. Mk1 ph2 16v 16v used both F7R and F4R and both were ABS driven.
