Mk1 Heater blowers.



Im on the verge of buying a valver, theres only a couple of iffy bits with it, one of which is that the heater blowers dont work.

I currently have my old mk1 ph3 RT on the drive doing nothing, so i could potentially steal any parts from that.

Firstly, is it possible to just steal a blower unit from a mk1 ph3 rt to go into a valver or is it a different setup?

Secondly, how the hell would this be done, is it something i can get at without having to rip then entire engine/dash off?

Also, i was looking at some old threads on the problem and someone suggested it might be the switch, im guessing this is the dial itself - do these things just pull off with enough brute force?

i know naff all about valvers or the mk1 clios so what i say may be irrelevanant.

from seeing pictures the dash comes apart pretty easily but common sense would lead me to think it would need to come off anyway for access to everything behind?

i'm unaware of an easy root to the engine from in the car...

no your quite right, it occured to me after i posted it all sounded very stupid, obviously im quite aware the dash would need to come out to get at anything behind. Ill have a fiddle around if and when i get the car changing the switches over etc.

Anyone else had any expereince with the same problem and subsequently solved it?

Does the fan spin, or not blow hot air? Heater matrix is quite common, my old RT didn't have heating till I sorted that

If they don't work at all then most likely is the resistor gone which is easy enough to replace as is the motor assembly. Could be the switch in the dash, which again isn't rocket science.

If it works and doesn't blow very hot air... then ure fucked :p

Gd cause you don't want to be changing the matrix! most likely is the heater resistor then which is simple enough to change! or even just try wiggling it around, mine is a bit dodgy have to give it a nudge now and then for it 2 work again.

the heater switchs dont just pull off ive tryed lol the whole panel comes out its held on by 2 torx and then on the back if the panel is 3 cables 2two for heater direction another for hot and cold and the other one is power un-plug all of them then you will be left with a black plastic thing and a white plastic thing they pull off then the front cover un-clips then thats it but its doubtfull its that
 
Well i had a damn good look at the haynes manual which tells you how to get at everything last night.

The guy says that sometimes if you get your hand down the scuttle panel and wiggle the wires for the ehater unit it occasionally starts to blow out. So it sounds liek the blowers do actually work, but its just a loose connection somewhere.
