I drive mine EVERY day!Quote: Originally posted by .:xTreme:. on 03 July 2005
Im not talking from experience, but from the mouth of someone who has driven both. I was told that the mk1 V6 has too many problems and is not a pleasure to drive day to day.
For everyday driving and for practicality, the Trophy/182/ 172 wins hands down.
What about the "look factor"?Quote: Originally posted by 182_blue on 03 July 2005
trophy, i dont think the v6 is that quick
i dont think the mk1 looks good from the front, i prefer the mk2, but yeh the v6 has the wow factor, shame about the speedQuote: Originally posted by Mr172Mk1 on 03 July 2005

Its a bit like comparing the Escort Cosworth with the Focus ST170. Theres only one winner!

Once again this has become a V6 v/s 172/182/CUP (& now) /TROPHY tennis match. There are 2 camps, and very little common ground!
As Wimbledon is now over, lets just leave each to their own, and heres to driving a fast Renault Clio (whatever the badge or engine), rather than a Citrus Paxo or a Plug 903!
Cheers!

i think the mk2 v6 looks very very nice, i drove one and i never have had so much attention in any car ever, its just a shame there not very quick, they need to go as fast as they look

I think this is a regional reaction. I live in Hampshire, and no-one gives me a 2nd look driving round in the Vee. I might as well be driving a Mondeo!Quote: Originally posted by stusV6 on 03 July 2005

They are as fast as they look, if you can drive them. Weve all been brought up on FWD cars. RWD+mid engine is totally different, more difficult to drive but ultimately much quicker. Ive done 5 trackdays in mine since I bought it - still getting used to it, but I know its miles faster than my 172 if only I can get to grips with it.Quote: Originally posted by 182_blue on 03 July 2005

If I take it to Essex its a different matter entirely with every boy racer wanting to have a go, and look all over the car, and last week I was in Sheffield, and it was like I came from a different planet... everyone stopped, stared, and bottom jaws could be seen dropping for miles around!
P.S. Thats not meant as a bad reflection on Sheffield (in case anyone takes offense!). Im a Blades fan by the way!
Im from Sheffield and drive a 255 and youre not wrong, I could have Elvis sitting on the roof

you didnt even take it over 4k revs takes time to get used to the car, i can get mine round corners quicker now than i ever could in the 172.
