MK2...PH1 boot on PH2

Would it be a straight swap??
as I would like to buy one and smooth it off.

Yeah it would be, only difference is the lock assembely which would make no difference when its smoothed anyway!

In that case, why not just smooth over ur existing ph2 tailgate?

Unless you wanted to keep a standard tailgate for the future.

And therefore it would make sense in buying a ph1 tailgate (i presume is cheaper than a ph2) and smoothing that over.

I wanted to do it as a seperate project...so I can still use my car...while it is being done..
Just thought ph1 would be cheeper and easier.

By all means, the ph1 is cheaper.

ph1 boot means you have to weld up the two extra holes for the 'renault' badge. but otherwise its easier to use a ph1 boot.

Suppose it wont make too much of a difference as I will have to respray the whole thing anyway.
