Mk2 Ph1 to RS-1/172

  1.6 Ford Focus
Ok, I have had the idea to convert my Ph1 from its current state... (minus the duel optic head lights, fog lights and alloys)

To this:

I am pretty sure this has been answered before but I am not entirely sure what to search. But do the parts on the RS-1 fit the Ph1 perfectly or are they slightly different sizes? If they do fit what kind of price would I be looking at for the bumpers, fogs, lights etc. etc.

I am only after the looks, I will not be able to change the engine.

If I can pull it off I would be able to name my car the green sheep seeing as its a green grande in RS-1 body.

i think its the same as the ph2 everything just bolts on but the wings are wider at the front so yuo need to change them.
good luck and get a progress thread up :)

I am also very interested in this, this has been my main goal since owning the Clio, I hate the look of the standard ph1's.

From doing my research, all thats needed is front bumper (use existing fogs) both frong wings and sideskirts.

Ok, thanks, that's my question answered :)

In what way would I need to change the front bumper for the RS-1 bumper to fit?

I don't currently have any fog lights so wiring them up could be an issue, although there is a guide here I noticed.

Edit: Looking at my own car I can see what would need to be done to the bumper, assuming there are no clips holding it on there it should be easy enough to do.

I don't think you'd be able to fit the sport front bumper without the front wings, so it would all need to be fitted at the same time. And I'm assuming it would just fit straight on after taking the existing bumper off (Haynes Manual)

Looking at both models the wheel arches/wings look the same, although I cant be sure. Is there a picture of the two cars front on side by side anywhere?

The only difference I can see between the two is the sports 172 bumper seams to extend into the front wheel arch, whereas the ph1 bumper seams to just keep straight and stop.

That actually reminds me, I need a workshop manual for my car. :p

yup take bumper off wings off put the new parts on and get the rear bumper colour coded and bond the skirts on :)

Seams easy enough...

I just bought a Haynes manual for it and as soon as that turns up I can look into what can be done and begin work :D

I think this may quite possibly be the first green 172 there is if I pull it off.

Saner's old car.

think its the front fings plus skirts need changing as well as the front bumper, the rear bumper just needs colour coding and job done....then all you need is something a little more powerful than a 56bhp engine under the bonnet lol...if you need to actually have a look at anything else you need just send me a message i got a mk1 172 and only from harlow up the road
