MK2 PH2 Headlamps with black surround?

Im aware that you can get different surrounds on the 172 headlamps, though to do it properly from my 1.2 I'd have to pay a fair bit.

Im just wondering if anyone has, or knows of anyone that has taken their headlamp units apart and sprayed the surround black? Is that even conceivable as an idea(or even legal)?
I know people do it with Corsa headlights, but wasn't too sure if it was possible with the clio.

yes you can oven bake the lights and seperate them, but its very time consumming and probably will work out more time effective just buy replacement ' black insert' headlamps

I just actually had my "Black Insert" headlamps delivered today and they look great, only cost £58 inc postage
