mk2 steering wheel onto mk1

I've got a badly worn steering wheel on my mk1 172 (most of you know what they're like after 30k, just imagine how mine looks after 128k miles!). Anyway, as they're impossible to get hold of practically, I was wondering if it was possible to fit a steering wheel from a newer mk2 Clio, either from a 172/cup or maybe a dynamique (from memory they're leather to aren't they?).
Is it much hassle? Wasn't really sure how you go about the airbag, if i could use mine in a mk2 wheel or not?

I would imagine you can, pretty certain of it since yours is a mk2 as well! Its a mk2ph1 and the newer shape is the ph2.
