Looks great mate!

Can't wait to take mine to 300bhp. No doubts I'll want more even after I reach 300 lol.

So old turbo off yesterday.

This arrived today.

Just need gaskets, oil and coolant tomorrow and that's it, ready to be back on the road.

You should send that away to eat AET for 360 bearings and twin seals buddy. Will last loads longer. Think it cost £150 mate. My turbo was done and was strong after 2years with no play. Will save you in long run. Some vxr turbos only last 6-12months for some reason on tuned cars

Which AET was that mate? AET Turbos or AET Motorsport? Both seem to deal with turbos.

Ignore that, they are the same company lol.

Who makes the standard turbo and why are they so shocking? lol

No idea why its so shocking, its a KKK K04. The cast manifolds love to crack too, the oil seals aren't great either.

Not sure how long this one I've killed has lasted, its lasted 10 months of my owner ship so its had a hard life lol. Not sure how long the previous owner had it fitted for.

£240 to hybrid this brand new one.

That's odd as that's who makes the VAG K04's and it's very rare for them to go unless the oil strainer gets blocked. Mines done 120k now and has zero play in it.

My T5 and Focus ST's run K04's too and don't appear to suffer from these issues.... weird!

It's prob down to poor service? The vxr had 20k service intervals. Bit long for an oil change. I changed mine every 3k without fail. I used semi synthetic 10-40? Which vaux recommended. I was running 3.5 eds map. 270-280bhp 320-350lbft roughly. My turbo was a year old on stage 3, I upped to next level and drove mine on and off but hard when I floored it for 2years Just before I sold the car I had head work done and the turbo was still spot on.
But if you search the vxr turbos sometimes don't last well when boost is upped. People crazed about oil restrictor bolts fitted to slow oil flow down a little.

No idea. But we shall see how this one goes. Will just change oil every 3k. Its only £19 for 5 litres of genuine gm oil and a genuine filter lol!

So fitted the new turbo today. Left the boost pipes and fmic soaking in petrol over night to get rid of the oil as much as possible then tomorrow will refit them and give it fresh oil and coolant.

Removed Aircon today too as it never worked since buying so may as well strip it out.

I used to think that my astra turbo would be a bugger to change lol, then I bought a Clio turbo where it's near impossible without removing everything!

Finally got it back on the road tonight. No oil leaks and smoke has completely stopped now.

Went for fuel and some middle aged guy stopped me and told me he loved it so I stood and talked to him for half an hour. Think that made me love it again :p

Quick snaps off the phone, managed 50 mile in it tonight just driving around with taking it easy and just enjoying it again.

Do you have/Did you ever have the standard wheels? One of my top oem wheels although I bet they weigh the earth.

Yeah when I bought it they were on it. Prone to cracking though apparently.

I keep getting tempted to buy another set of standard wheels and have them done in a high power silver, they are a fantastic standard wheel.

Them photos are shocking! They looked far better on my phone screen lol.

So havn't really been using it much lately. Probably only covered 2-300 mile in 2 month.

After having the new turbo on, I wanted it health checked so had it put on the rollers. Probably should of picked a cooler day but it was mainly fueling I was interested in anyway. Anyways it made 253bhp and 300 ftlbs. Not bad for just a generic stage 1 on it. It does have a flat spot at 5k to 5.5k where the fuel drops a little lean so the guy reckons an uprated fuel pump might sort that out so will get a Walbro 255 one ordered. The map will be going anyway once I come back off holiday in place of a proper custom one on the rollers.

Still has a slight miss fire at high revs/boost, changed the coilpack for a genuine one and doesn't seemed to of helped so going to put some fresh VXR plugs in it, the current VXR ones have covered around 10k, which I guess with my driving is a lot! Also spotted a slight coolant leak on the dyno, looks like it might be auxilary pump so its off to Tunst next week for a check over and see what it needs.

Took it out for some quick pictures before parking it back home for another while.

That's not a bad result for a stage 1 map tbh, mine had a courtenay stage 2 map with supporting mods & made 253 bhp & 308 ft/lb

Love the chav mobil. Always been one of my guilty pleasures these have.
Haha a lot of people are like that! Once they drive it they love it even more!

Hopefully once I come back off holiday in September it will be ready for 300bhp.
