MOT centre wrecked my car

MOT centres have no responsibility at all, it's your car and your responsibility to keep the vehicle maintained , all they do is carry out a test on the vehicle to make sure it's road worthy!

Ive had it with people complaining about diesels being revved on the smoke test ! There should be a sign somewhere explaining , if you ring VOSA they will tell you your vehicle clearly wasnt maintained to a satisfactory condition and that's not the testers fault !

Sorry dude but I'm a MOT tester and it really is a case no point even trying! Best thing is do as you are doing get it back to normal ! Have you checked all the wiring looms okay and HT/ coil packs ? If its burnt or melted ? And all the vacuum lines as it sounds like the latter

How can the mot station be liable for this , there was clearly a fault with your car , otherwise every Clio put through this would catch fire !

sounds like the sound deadening material was not fitted properly and was touching the manifold , so it could have caught fire anywhere , you should be thanking your lucky stars it caught fire in the mot garage where they had extinguishers and not at a set of traffic lights where you would have stood back helpless watching it burn out

Agree with above but surly there's rules about putting engine fires out with water?
