MOT Fail

001 Service brake efficiency below requirements [3.7.A.8]
002 Offside Rear brake recording little or no effort [3.7.A.4a]

Would this be too separate things or is it just saying that when pressing the foot brake its not a lot of effort on the OSR

Or is it saying both fronts are not enough effort and the OSR not enough effort on foot brake

It'll be the handbrake isn't working well enough as the offside rear brake isn't operating with enough force.

Probably the caliper needs replacing, mine failed on exactly the same thing.

i am a bit rusty on my mot stuff now - but would say both refer to service brake ie you have something that needs sorting - sure that parking is put as parking/handbrake

either way best get your brakes looked at - could just be a strip down clean de-glaze pads and a good bed in session to sort them :D

Can't see/feel nothing wrong with any of it. Could both 001 and 002 just be related to the Foot brake side of the Offside Rear. ?

yeh it could as it has to get to a minmum amout of effort to pass - if in doubt just phone the garage that tested it and they should put you right - did they not say when you went to pick it up - most usually are ready with a quote for the work

Never quote me as he knows I wouldn't pay for any work done :)
I was to busy talking about the holes in the sill to even think about it.

It means you over all service brake effort is below the requirements, the effort applied by your footbrake in total.

O/S rear is recording no effort, so when you fix the rear brake! It should pass as it will bring the effort up! :)

The RBT says 41% so will the OSR make that up to 100% :S Or does it not get to 100% ?

I reckon the cylinder has probably pissed out over the shoes or something is seized! May need a new set of shoes!

I reckon its the shoes. I've had the drums off just before the MOT to sort out the parking brake as it had lots of travel. Didn't see any leaks.

or cylinder seized!!

O Yes, True.
I do remember easily pushing the pistons on the cylinder in when I was adjusting the hand brake. Just can't remember what side that was on.
Lets just hope its not as I just LOVE removing the brake pipe nuts. :(
