if it's out of MOT you can still legally drive it but only if you are on your way to an MOT test centre and your car has been pre-booked in.

if you do get stopped by the police of have a shunt then you are liable to be prosecuted.

if it's up to the 8th then it will run out at 11:59pm tonight as the dates run inclusively.

cut a long story short - get it tested!! hpoefully it will pass but if it does require any parts / work to fail it then you've left yourself no leeway to get it done.

it wont pass both handbrake cables have snapped and been on back order from renault for 3 weeks now! got one side just not the other, and they keep saying it should be here soon!

but atleast i can use it for work today and im off friday satarday so i can try and sort it out!

i know someone who was overdue by 4 months..........was followed by police on numerous occasions and never got stopped oddly :S

its only a 50/60 quid fine for no MOT.

It's a NON endorsable £60 ticket for no MOT (so no points).

Sorry to hijack, but mine is due soon also, but my front tyres are pretty much on the wear markers. I've measured them with a tread depth gauge and they are apparently 2mm. Will it pass the MOT with my ad-hoc slicks or should I get new ones before I get it tested.

You are allowed 1.6mm on the center 3/4's of the tyre. There is no set tread limit for the outer edges but if they look excessivly worn they can fail them.

Cheers. That's what I thought. I think I'll just have to shell out on a couple of new Michelins then just to make sure.

i still wouldnt drive it unless you have it booked in to an MOT station, all sorts of nightmares if you have an accident and its not MOT'd

plus if your booked in for an MOT driving there to do so whilst not having an MOT is fine.

I agree, I also think that places like gsf or ecp would either have them in, or could get them with in a few days (they would also be cheaper too)
