Motorhome/Campervan Insurance Under 25

I'm currently looking for a cheap camper van for day trips down the beach and maybe a tour of Europe this summer BUT trying to insure it being under 25 is a nightmare.

I'm 20, 21 in June and have a squeaky clean licence, with 3 years no claims on my car. However most companies don't want to know as soon as they're aware I'm under 25.

Do I try and insure it as a standard van?

Or do I go down the named driver route with my dad as the policy holder?

Anyone had any experience with this?

my mate bought a van and retrofitted the bed etc in it and insured it as a van at the same age as you etc.

there are alot of conversions on ebay atm so id look into that.

not sure mate. arent there any sppecialists you could try. seems a bit gay to me

All the specialists I've come across so far wont go near under 25's :dapprove:

not very useful but worth a read all the same... looks like there are loads of people having trouble insuring them. i am unsure as to why though they aren't exactly fast :S

Tell me about it. I'm much more of a liability in the 172 than I ever would be in 60 mph van TBH lol.

Maybe I'll walk into a few local insurers and see what they have to say...
